DIY Build Up Removers for Your Hair

Want a quick and easy way to remove excess oil and build up from your scalp? Here are a couple quick recipes you can make in your own kitchen!

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse:

RECIPE: mix 1-2 tablespoons of RAW apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of cold water (you can add 2-3 drops of lavender or rosemary essential oil if you wish, don't overdo it!)

HOW TO USE:

-Shampoo your hair and rinse well

-Lean your head back and pour the rinse over your head, working it into your scalp, avoid contact with eyes

-Let sit on hair for 1-2 minutes

-Thoroughly rinse

-Once your hair is dry it WON'T smell like vinegar!!

-Use once a week at first, up to twice a week if your hair is excessively oily or if you have dandruff. Those with dry hair should only use 1-2X per month, or it can make your hair feel like straw (ask me how I know!)

-Follow up with your normal conditioner, applied to the ends of your hair and style as usual

Baking Soda Treatment:

RECIPE: in a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with about 3 tablespoons of water to form a paste (you can add 2-3 drops of essential oil if you wish, don't overdo it!)

HOW TO USE:

-Shampoo your hair and rinse well

-Apply paste to wet scalp and massage in

-Leave on for 3 minutes

-Rinse thoroughly

-Condition the ends of your hair and style as usual
